25 Stars That Should Have Been on Battle of the Network Stars(Women Edition)

Last week, I wrote an article in which I gave a list of 25 of the biggest male TV stars that never appeared on the original Battle of the Network Stars.
Now, here is another list, this time of the 25 biggest female TV stars that never appeared on the original Battle of the Network Stars.
The list is alphabetical order, by the way:
Loni Anderson
Show + Network: WKRP In Cincinnati(CBS)
Time Frame: November 1978-November 1981(V-XI)
Why: Anderson was one of the biggest sex symbols on TV during her tenure as receptionist Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP in Cincinnati, so I'm sure a lot of male viewers would have hoped Anderson would have gone into the dunk tank during the baseball throw.
Priscilla Barnes
Show + Network: Three's Company(ABC)
Time Frame: November 1981-May 1984(XI-XVI)
Why: Barnes took over Suzanne Somers' room for the final three seasons of Three's Company, but before that Barnes had hoped to become a dancer, joining a dance group called "The Vivacious Vixens" before an accident in which she broke her leg and jaw, steered toward acting.
It would have been curious to see if Barnes could have dusted off those dance skills in events such as the obstacle course.
Justine Bateman
Show + Network: Family Ties(NBC)
Time Frame: December 1982-May 1985 + 1988(XIII-XIX)
Why: Even though she was a teenager, I think Bateman would have been one of the more athletic women on BOTNS as she was doing yoga which means she would have been in great shape.
Also, she has become a scuba diver in her post Family Ties life which indicates to me she has always had an appreciation for swimming.
Pam Dawber
Show + Network: Mork & Mindy(ABC)
Time Frame: November 1978-May 1982(V-XIII)
Why: The other half of Mork & Mindy, Dawber has listed swimming as one of her favorite hobbies so she could have been solid choice for the swimming competition.
Plus, it would have been funny to see her compete against her future husband, Mark Harmon.
Angie Dickinson
Show + Network: Police Woman(NBC)
Time Frame: November 1976-November 1977(I-III)
Why: It's a surprise to me that Dickinson did not participate on BOTNS as her show Police Woman was one of the few hits on NBC during that time.
I think it would have been fun to see Dickinson on the show to see if she learned anything from her ex-husband Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman Gene Hickerson and see to her legs, which she insured for $1 million, in work in the running or obstacle course competition.
Morgan Fairchild
Show(s) + Network(s): Flamingo Road(NBC) and Paper Dolls(ABC)
Time Frame: May 1981-May 1982(XI-XIII) and December 1984(XVII)
Why: Fairchild did co-host the May 1983 BOTNS, but never participated in any of the competitions even though she was a cast member of two TV shows, Flamingo Road and Paper Dolls during BOTNS's first run, so I'm sure a lot of male viewers would have love to see Fairchild partake in some of the events, i.e. the dunk tank.
Linda Gray
Show + Network: Dallas(CBS)
Time Frame: May 1978-May 1985 + 1988(IV-XIX)
Why: Dallas was the most represented show on BOTNS as 12 cast members combined for 20 appearances, yet Gray, who played J.R.'s alcoholic wife Sue Ellen, never made an appearance.
Veronica Hamel
Show + Network: Hill Street Blues(NBC)
Time Frame: May 1981-May 1985(X-XVIII)
Why: Much like Dallas, Hill Street Blues was highly represented on BOTNS as eight members of its cast combined for 14 appearances.
But Hamel was the leading lady of the cast so it would have been nice to see her on BOTNS.
Valerie Harper
Show + Network: Rhoda(CBS)
Time Frame: November 1976-November 1978(I-V)
Why: Harper is best known today for being diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013 and given three months to live, only to live past the three months and compete on Dancing with The Stars(She died in 2019, six years after her diagnosis).
But before that, Harper played Mary Tyler Moore's roommate on the Mary Tyler Moore Show until they gave Harper her own show.
Anyway, I think Harper would have been very good on BOTNS as she was a dancer on Broadway, even being a member of the corps de ballet on Radio City Music Hall, before landing her role as Rhoda Morgenstern.
Marilu Henner

Show + Network(s): Taxi(ABC and NBC)
Time Frame: ABC=November 1978-May 1982(V-XII) NBC=December 1982-May 1983(XIII-XIV)
Why: Just like Harper, Henner was a Broadway dancer before going into acting, which included playing the role of Marty in the original production of Grease, so it would have been curious to see if her dancing skills would have translated onto BOTNS.
Plus, she has spent most of her adult life practicing fitness so Henner would have been one of the most fit athletes in the competition.
Polly Holliday
Polly Holliday
Show(s) + Network: Alice + Flo(CBS)
Time Frame: November 1976-May 1981(I-X)
Why: Just for the fact that if CBS won an event, Holliday could say "Kiss my grits".
Kate Jackson
Show(s) + Network(s): Charlie's Angels(ABC) and Scarecrow & Mrs. King(CBS)
Time Frame: November 1976-May 1979(I-VI) and December 1983-May 1985(XV-XVIII)
Why: Jackson was the only member of the original trio on Charlie's Angels not to appear on BOTNS as Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith made appearances and even Cheryl Ladd, Fawcett's replacement, made an appearance.
Years later, she starred in another action drama, Scarecrow & Mrs. King, but again didn't appear on BOTNS so it would have been nice to see if Jackson could use any skills she acquired as an action star in the athletic competitions.
Judith Light
Show + Network: Who's The Boss?
Time Frame: December 1984-May 1985 + December 1988(XVII-XIX)
Why: Light studied dance while getting her degree in drama at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and also praticied yoga before becoming an actress on Broadway in the 1970s, meaning she might have had good footwork for the obstacle course or running relay.
Pamela Sue Martin
Show(s) + Network: Nancy Drew Mysteries and Dynasty(ABC)
Time Frame: February 1977-May 1978(II-IV) and May 1981-May 1984(X-XVI)
Why: Nancy Drew and the original Fallon Carrington Colby from Dynasty is said to have a list of hobbies which include skiing, tennis and scuba diving.
I don't know if Martin had these hobbies during her time as an actress, but if she did then she would have been one of the better female athletes.
Marie Osmond
Show + Network: Donny & Marie(ABC)
Time Frame: November 1976-November 1978(I-V)
Why: Although she has no background in sports, Marie was the only girl amongst the nine Osmond children, so I wonder if playing with the boys would have translated into her being a good athlete.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Show + Network: Square Pegs(CBS)
Time Frame: December 1982-May 1983(XII-XIV)
Why: Years before her career-defining role as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex & The City, SJP played misfit Patty Greene on the teen comedy Square Pegs.
I think Parker would have been very good on BOTNS as she was a classically trained ballet dancer, attending the School of American Ballet in New York City and playing the lead role of Annie in the original Broadway production of the famous musical.
Stefanie Powers
Show + Network: Hart to Hart(ABC)
Time Frame: November 1979-May 1984(VII-XVII)
Why: Much like many of the woman on this list, Powers was a dancer before she was an actress as she took dance lessons from choreographer Jerome Robbins, apparently one of the most famous Broadway choreographers ever, and was in the same ballet class as Natalie Wood and Jill St. John.
Powers also had a pension for physical activities taking up karate lessons and being an avid polo player
Markie Post
Show + Network: The Fall Guy(ABC)
Time Frame: December 1982-May 1985(XIII-XVIII)
Why: While she is probably more known for her role as Christine Sullivan on the NBC sitcom Night Court, Post would have been eligible to participate on BOTNS because of her role as Lee Majors' boss on The Fall Guy.
Post might have been very good on BOTNS because of her days as a cheerleader at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek, California.
Tanya Roberts
Show + Network: Charlie's Angels(ABC)
Time Frame: November 1980-May 1981(IX-X)
Why: The last of the Charlie's Angels, Roberts would have been perfect for BOTNS for two reasons.
One, she was a dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios, a place for Broadway performers to learn how to dance, and she was one of the sexiest Angels which means a lot of guys would have wanted to see to get dunked in the dunk tank.
Connie Sellecca
Show(s)+ Network(s): Flying High(CBS), The Greatest American Hero(ABC) Hotel(ABC)
Time Frame: November 1978(V), May 1981-December 1982(X-XIII), December 1983-May 1985(XIII-XVII)
Why: Sellecca has no athletic or dance background, but it would have been interesting to see how compete against her then-husband Gil Gerard who played Buck Rogers on NBC's Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
Elisabeth Shue
Show + Network: Call to Glory
Time Frame: December 1984-May 1985(XVII-XVIII)
Why: Following her breakthrough role in The Karate Kid, Shue starred in the short-lived drama, Call to Glory, which she played the daughter of Craig T.Nelson in the drama set in the early 1960s.
Anyway, the show lasted only one season, but it would have made Shue eligible to participate on BOTNS and I think she would have been one of the better female athletes as she was a gymnast in high school, even making it to the New Jersey state finals.
Shannon Tweed
Show + Network: Falcon Crest(CBS)
Time Frame: December 1982-May 1983(XIII-XIV)
Why: Right after being named Playboy Playmate of the Year for 1982, Tweed landed a role on the CBS primetime soap Falcon Crest, playing the role of Diana Hunter for the 1982-83 season.
I'm sure the male viewers would have love to seen Tweed in a swimsuit for the swimming and kayaking competition or get dunked in the baseball throw.
Lindsay Wagner
Show + Network(s): The Bionic Woman(ABC and NBC)
Time Frame: ABC=November 1976-February 1977(I-II) NBC=November 1977-May 1978(III-IV)
Why: Even though she had no background in dancing or sports, it just would have been cool to see The Bionic Woman participate on BOTNS.
Cindy Williams
Show + Network: Lavrene & Shirley(ABC)
Time Frame: November 1976-May 1982(I-XII)
Why: While her TV best friend Penny Marshall(Lavrene) shined on three BOTNS appearances, Williams(Shirley) might have outperformed Marshall as Williams played volleyball for high school, Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, California and also tap danced with Gene Kelly before her breakthrough role as Ron Howard's girlfriend in the 1973 movie American Graffiti.
Stephanie Zimbalist

Show + Network: Remington Steele(NBC)
Time Frame: December 1982-May 1985(XIII-XVIII)
Why: Remington Steele is best remembered for launching Pierce Brosnan's career, but he shared the spotlight with Zimbalist who played Laura Holt, the one who actually did most of the detective work as Brosnan's character was assuming the identity of Remington Steele which Holt created in order to get work.
Anyway, Zimbalist would have been an natural for BOTNS as she was a tomboy in her youth as she loved to swim, play tennis, dive, and dance.
